CHILD DEVELOPMENTAL MILESTONES

6 STAGES OF PLAY:

Birth - 3 Months —> Unoccupied Play: Baby makes a lot of movements with limbs and is learning & discovering how their body moves

Birth - 2 Years —> Solitary Play: Child desires to play alone and keep to themselves ~ no desires to share or interact

2 Years —> Spectator / Onlooker Behavior: A children begins watching others play without interacting with their environment

2+ Years —> Parallel Play: A child plays alongside or near others but not with them

3 - 4 Years —> Associate Play: A child starts to interact with others without heavy involvement. Example: Kids may all be playing using the same playground equipment, but all doing different things - climbing, swinging, running, etc.

4+ Years —> Cooperative Play: A child plays together with others with interest in both the activity and other children who are playing
